The Most Expensive Movie Of Pakistan “Waar” – Official Trailer

Earlier in 2010, we reported that Hollywood producers are auditioning for film actors in Islamabad for a high-profile Hollywood/Lollywood collaborative project. The director of the project, Bilal Lashari has shot his first full-length feature film called Waar, in collaboration with ISPR. The film has been produced by MindWorks Media with Hunt Lowry, producer of “Donnie Darko” and Warner Bros.’s smash hit “A Walk to Remember” and numerous other well known films.

Waar (to strike) is an action/thriller and drama film, written by Hassan Waqas Rana and stars Pakistan’s finest actors, Shaan Shahid and Shamoon Abbasi, otherwise the rest of the cast are brand new actors. The storyline has been inspired by the war on terror in Pakistan and its effects on the world but with a very stylised interpretation of it. There have been many Hollywood movies which have dealt with the same issue including Syriana (2005) and A Mighty Heart (2007), but most of them failed to portray the situation properly except for Syriana which received generally positive reviews.

The English-language film (Waar) has been shot at various locations in and outside of Pakistan, from the beautiful hills of Islamabad to the second best tourist destination in Pakistan, Lahore to the fascinating valley of Swat (the Switzerland of Pakistan) in the Northern Areas of Pakistan, where a major military operation was launched two years ago. But most of the scenes and script are based around locations in Islamabad. Some parts of the film have also been shot in Istanbul, Turkey.

As reported earlier, the soundtrack of this one of it’s kind film has been done by Qayaas. “Inquilaab, Khayaal and Pal are part of the soundtrack,” says Khurram Waqar, the lead guitarist of the band. The presence of Qayaas in the film makes the project sound even more interesting.

According to IMDB, the estimated film budget is $2,000,000 (PKR 170M or 17 Crores). The film being produced by one of the major film studios in America, Warner Bros, will be first screened at some major international film festivals and after its successful screening at the festivals, it will be released worldwide.Mindworks Media‘s Dr. Hassan is ramping up several other film projects and has big plans of restarting the film scene in Pakistan.

The 140 min feature film is currently in it’s post-production stage. Waar is expected to have a summer release.

Pakistani actress Veena Malik goes missing in Mumbai

Mumbai: Controversial Pakistani actress and model Veena Malik has gone missing in Mumbai since Friday morning, her manager said here Saturday. Shooting for a Bollywood flick, “Mumbai 125 kilometres”, at Film City in Goregaon of northwest Mumbai, Malik left in a car after pack-up Friday morning and was not reachable since. “Veena left after the pack-up yesterday (Friday) morning. In the afternoon, I received an SMS from her where she apologised for not being able to concentrate on the shooting, stating that she was disturbed,” the film’s director Hemant Madhukar said. “I called her immediately, but her number was not reachable. I have not been able to get in touch with her since,” he added. Malik’s manager Pratik Mehta also confirmed the development. “I have been trying to reach her since yesterday, but have failed. I have approached the officials at Bandra police station and have sought help in finding the whereabouts of Veena.” However, the Bandra police denied they have registered a missing person’s complaint for Veena Malik. Malik came into limelight in 2010 after she testified against her boyfriend, Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Asif alleging that he was involved in match fixing. She then garnered more attention after she participated in the fourth season of reality show “Bigg Boss”. She has also been condemned by Islamic clerics for her nude photos in an Indian magazine. The actress is set to have her ‘swayamvar’ on India’s national television, through Imagine TV, which has earlier hosted swayamvars of Rakhi Sawant, Rahul Mahajan and Ratan Rajput.

Sexy Veena Malik, will now sizzles with oodles of attitude in the item song Channo in the film ‘Gali Gali Chor Hai’ a film by Rumy Jafry.

The song Channo from the film is being choreographed by Ahmed Khan and sung by Mamta Sharma, while Anu Malik has given the music score.

Atif Aslam now as a judge in Indian Reality Show

Atif Aslam will be visiting Mumbai soon. This is not because he is going to record his next song there, but this time he is honored and included in the jury of an upcoming Indian reality TV show. The venture for this show will be launched in starting months of the next year.
Boney Kapoor is part of the channel and according to a source; it has been revealed that they chose Atif to get more audience. Obviously Atif has fans around the globe and making him a jury member will work effectively to grab more eyeballs. The source further added that everything is ready to launch the show and they are just waiting for Atif’s arrival. Atif too is finding it a great chance to interact with his Indian fans.
